Barrowford telecoms business sets sights on 2015 expansion

A successful business year culminated in a spot of light-hearted festive fun for a Barrowford company which has recruited ten new staff in 2014 and seen its revenue and profits increase by 50 per cent.

Enthusiastic staff at Denwa, a business technology specialist, took part in a spoof East 17 ‘Stay’ video, including boss Rob Scott, for whom events like this come part and parcel of the business’ culture.

Named the Pendle Small Business of the Year in May, business technology specialist Denwa has seen its team increase from 20 to 30 staff this year and plan to increase this to 50 in 2015.

“Our graduate fast-track scheme has been really successful this year,” explained Rob Scott, Denwa managing director. “We have doubled our training budget and are passionate about recruiting enthusiastic, hardworking individuals who will benefit from our 12 month training plan and go on to have successful careers with us.”

In addition to its graduate scheme, Denwa works with Themis at Burnley College to employ apprentices and staff are encouraged to develop new skills through sales training and courses from Prince2, LEAD and with technical training with vendors like Mitel.

Incentives such as an all-expenses paid trip to Tokyo for three staff who went above and beyond what was expected of them, as well as fundraising for North West Blood Bikes Lancs & Lakes, helps to create an excellent team spirit at Denwa. Staff also enjoyed taking part in a special Christmas video for Denwa’s website, social media sites and newsletter.

Rob, who took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, along with other members of the team, to raise money for the company’s chosen charity of 2014, said: “80% of our staff are from the East Lancashire, so we are committed to helping out the local community whenever we can, including sponsoring the Pendle Sports Awards and a number of local sports clubs.”

As well as supporting enterprises in East Lancashire, Denwa continues to work with a range of local businesses to create the perfect telecoms and IT solutions for their needs. Petty’s Estate Agents, Mortimers Estate Agents and the Fireplace Warehouse are just a few of the business who have joined forces with Denwa in 2014. “We are going into the New Year on a really positive note, we have had excellent support from our bank and the Rosebud scheme to help fund our growth plans and we are looking forward to welcoming many more new staff to our team and building on the successful relationships we have with our clients.”
