Bacup shoe company bags One Direction deal
Bacup Shoes has secured the rights to manufacture and sell footwear baring the branding of One Direction, the internationally renowned boy band.The Rossendale-based footwear firm has previously produced items under licence from The Simpsons, Disney and High School Musical. It approached Global Merchandising Services, which handles One Direction licensing, last month with a request to produce branded footwear.
Given the green light, Bacup Shos will now begin turning its designs into products, with the intention of having sandals and wellies in the shops by Christmas. The company has existing deals in place with Next, John Lewis, Tesco and Asda.One Direction ranked amongst the finalists in 2010's X Factor and have gone on two score two number one albums on both sides of the Atlantic. Bacup Shoes employs 55 from its premises at Athertonholme Mill and manufactures its footwear in China.
