A pair of budding apprentices from Climarite Refrigeration in Skelmersdale has reached the final stages in two of the most prestigious awards in their industry.
Michael (Mick) Brady and Alex Forkings beat fierce competition to become shortlisted in the RAC Cooling Industry Awards in the “Student of the Year” category, as well as the Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBAs) for “Apprentice Team of the Year”.
The dynamic duo were nominated by workplace team leaders and tutors at City of Liverpool College, where both apprentices are studying a three-year part-time course in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP). Alex and Mick are also employed under full-time contract by Climarite Refrigeration, leading specialists in commmercial and industrial RAC.
For each of these prestigious awards the apprentices endured three separate stages including written applications, video and in-person interviews. Each of the award organisers praised the applicants for reaching the final stages, especially given the high number and calibre of entrants this year.
Both apprentices have reached the final round in the BIBAs, with Alex reaching the final in the RAC Cooling Industry awards.
The RAC Cooling Industry Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 19th September at London’s Grosvenor House, immediately followed by the BIBA Awards at Blackpool Tower Ballroom on 20th September. Both apprentices will attend the black-tie gala dinner events to find out if they have won.
