Apprentice recruitment drive adds up for Champion
Four young people have commenced new careers in financial services thanks to an apprenticeship programme with business advice specialist Champion Accountants.The quartet joins the group as audit and accounts trainees, with Daniel Kiziltas, 24, Thomas Brocken, 18 and Emma Jane Savage, 18, being appointed by the Blackpool office, whilst Georgia Mayor, 18, has joined the Preston team.
The roles include reviewing financial information, preparing VAT returns and management accountants and liaising with the group’s SME client base. All whilst working towards a nationally-recognised qualification from the Association of Accounting Technician's (AAT).Starting life as a team of four in 1971, the Champion Group, which has offices in Manchester, Preston, Chester, Southport and Blackpool, now employs more than 110 staff.
The apprentices are four of 19 new starters to join the group since the start of the year, which includes Champion Accountants, Champion Contractors and Champion Insurance Brokers.Ged Cosgrove, managing director of Champion Group, said: “Our apprenticeship programme is firmly-entrenched within the company and provides the ideal path for young people that want to enter the field of accountancy as a long-term career. “I’m pleased to welcome on board our latest bright and ambitious apprentices, who bring a commitment and willingness to learn as well as fresh ideas and thinking to the business.”
