Anwyl Homes Lancashire has officially started build at Lea Grange on Lowfield Lane, its first residential development in St Helens.

To mark the start of build, the housebuilder was joined by Duncan Inglis from Homes England and Joe Burnett from Network Space for the ground-breaking, with both companies playing an integral part of the land acquisition.

Cllr Richard McCauley, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Housing also attended the occasion.

The site, which is 3.62 hectares in size, will when complete comprise 82 high quality new build homes, including three bedroom semi-detached homes and a mix of three and four bedroom detached homes, helping to meet the increasing demand for housing in the area.

John Grime, managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, comments: “We are thrilled to be on site at Lea Grange, our first residential development in St Helens.  As such, it was important to mark the start of build and it was a privilege to have Duncan, Joe and Cllr Richard McCauley participate in the official ground-breaking.”

Duncan Inglis, head of accelerated delivery at Homes England in the North West, says: “Homes England is keen to drive diversity in the house building market and is pleased to support Anwyl as they expand into the North West.”

Joe Burnett, development director at Network Space, said: “We are starting to see a resurgence in mixed use schemes, as uses once seen as conflicting, are now considered complementary and sustainable.

“Anwyl Homes’ development is the final piece of the jigsaw for the regeneration of the wider Mere Grange site following Network Space’s successful delivery of 162,000 sq ft of employment space over the last 12 months. We are delighted by the progress made since we sold the residential site to Anwyl Homes earlier this year and look forward to Mere Grange becoming a place where people can live as well as work.”

Construction at Lea Grange is expected to take three years.  The sales centre is now open on site, with the showhome scheduled to open in Autumn and the first residents moving in later this year.

John concludes: “We are looking forward to build progressing well at Lea Grange and the development taking shape, bringing our award-winning product to St Helens.”

There is currently a selection of three and four bedroom properties available at Lea Grange, with prices starting from £191,995.  For further information, please call 01744 413590 or visit www.anwylhomes.co.uk.
