Angels to bring £2.5m investment to Lancashire
Haworths Chartered Accountants is calling Lancashire investors to take part in a Business Angels investment event in Blackburn on Tuesday 10 February.Hosted at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Blackburn Hotel, the gathering will be the fourth Lancashire Business Angels event sponsored by Haworths, and will see five shortlisted individuals pitch their ideas to a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style panel of investment ‘angels’.
The panel will be made up of high net worth individuals and venture capitalists, who will be aiming to invest in a great business idea. Places are limited at the event, where Lancashire’s Rosebud Business Finance is amongst some of the investment on offer – yet more angel investors are encouraged to get involved to form part of the panel.More than 30 potential investors and businesses attended the last event in May 2014 and the latest Lancashire Business Angels is expected to deliver an investment boost of up to £2.5m for Blackburn and the wider region.
Paul Spencer, director at Haworths Chartered Accountants, said: “Lancashire Business Angels is the only initiative of its kind in the county, providing a unique matchmaking service to bring businesses and investors together.“The last three events have been very popular where investors have seen fantastic business ideas come to the fore, enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to secure a valuable cash injection for their business.
“Lancashire Business Angels has become a showcase for the innovative business community in Lancashire and we are proud to support the region’s business success stories by providing them with a forum to access investment.”Businesses and investors can apply to take part in the event by emailing David Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org, with entrepreneurs outlining the investment opportunity they wish to present.
They should be seeking between £20,000 and £500,000 in return for an equity stake in their business and should be able to demonstrate rapid growth, an experienced management team and a viable business plan that has the potential for long-term expansion in a growing market. Just five companies will be selected to present on the night and will each deliver a presentation and answer questions from the angels. The investors will then decide which investment opportunities are right for them.
