#AmazingAccrington have announced the addition of Studio Retail Ltd’s head of talent Kate Morgan, and partner at PM+M Solutions for Business LLP, Paul Spencer, to their board.

Ms Morgan, who has worked in retail for her whole career and actually started out in her parent’s shoe shop in the centre of Accrington, joins the #AmazingAccrington board as a committee member.

Mr Spencer, who grew up in Clayton-le-Moors is a qualified accountant, with over 35 years experience working in practice and joins the #AmazingAccrington board as treasurer.

They join fellow committee members Charlotte Scheffman – dean of higher education at the Nelson & Colne College Group and managing director of Langtec Limited, Andrew Turner, alongside chairman Murray Dawson, owner of Scott Dawson Advertising and Peter Scott Printers.

Murray Dawson, chair of Amazing Accrington, said: “Everyone here at #AmazingAccrington is delighted to welcome Paul and Kate onto our board.

“In Kate, it is fantastic to have a key manager from the biggest employer here in Hyndburn with us, and that can only bode well for the future and the work that Frasers Group are doing here in the borough. Kate will support the #AmazingAccrington youth engagement and employability programmes which we run in the 46 local schools, while Paul brings with him a vast amount of experience and commercial contacts, which will help us develop at #AmazingAccrington to support more business leader initiatives.”

Paul Spencer, commented: “Growing up in Clayton I am extremely passionate about the borough and I am looking forward to working together with a wonderful board here at #AmazingAccrington.

“I specialise in advising SME’s across Lancashire in a variety of sectors and on a variety of matters, and I am keen to share that experience for the good of Hyndburn.”

Kate Morgan, added: “I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious and committed board here at #AmazingAccrington.

“Being an Accringtonian myself, I am passionate about improving the opportunities for our local people and I look forward to doing that even more with #AmazingAccrington.”

Following the acquisition of Studio Retail Ltd, Frasers Group recently reinforced its commitment to the Hyndburn area by purchasing the 76k sq ft office property in Clayton Le Moors which was already currently used for Studio Retail’s administrative and operational functions.

The #AmazingAccrington board, a cross section of business leaders from private and public sectors in conjunction with MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, Sara Britcliffe, aim to bring businesses, the education sector and young people in Hyndburn closer together, to improve outcomes for education and future careers.
