#AmazingAccrington's Soapbox Challenge on Saturday, 26th August raised a fantastic £1,750 for Maundy Relief.

The popular event, which welcomed over 18,000 visitors into Accrington town centre this year, proudly donates entry fees from the Soapbox Challenge to the local charity, with over £8,000 now donated since the event began in 2018.

Julie Hesmondhalgh is a patron of Maundy Relief, and was delighted to receive the cheque on their behalf. She said: "I would like to say a huge thank you to #AmazingAccrington and to all the sponsors and participants in the Soapbox Challenge this year.

"You have raised an incredible £1,750 for Maundy Relief, following what was an amazing day here in Accrington."

Murray Dawson, Chair of #AmazingAccrington, added: "We have now donated over £8,000 to Maundy Relief from the entry fees in the Soapbox Challenge, and we are determined to take that total to £10,000 next year.

"We are already taking entries for next year and if you want to be part of a really fantastic event in 2024, we would recommend getting your entries in before it's too late."
