Amazing Accrington announces Christmas lights switch on and fireworks plans

Organisers of the 2021 Christmas Light Switch On, Amazing Accrington, have released updated plans for this year’s event in Accrington Town Centre on Thursday 25th November.

The Switch On will feature a fantastic fireworks show sponsored by amazing local and international business EG Group.

Ilyas Munshi, Group Commercial Director at EG Group, commented: “We are thrilled to be part of the 2021 Accrington Christmas Light Switch On.

“It’s a wonderful occasion for friends and family to come together and we are extremely proud to be sponsoring what will be a firework display to remember.”

Murray Dawson, chair of Amazing Accrington, said: “Working in conjunction with Accrington Town Hall, Accrington Market and Hyndburn Borough Council, we can’t wait to put on an amazing evening of entertainment for the entire family at this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.

“From an incredible fireworks display, to a highly talented line-up of acts, we are finalising plans for a brilliant event that will really kickstart the festive season for all our local people.”

The event, also sponsored by North Lancs Training Group (NLTG), Sundown Solutions and Studio Retail Ltd will be headlined by Diva Mix, a superbly talented girl band paying tribute to Little Mix and some of the world’s greatest divas of all time.

Singer, songwriter and singing coach, Ella Shaw, has been added to this year’s line-up, whilst there will also be performances from Ella Shaw’s Academy of Arts, a performing arts school which is determined to nurture and guide the future generations of the local community.

Local singer/songwriter Claudia Thompson will also be performing a set during what poses to be a fascinating evening of live entertainment, which will see players from Accrington Stanley Ladies Team take to the stage ahead of the Switch On by Accrington-born celebrity and actress Julie Hesmondhalgh (schedule permitting).
