Alpine contract is just fine for CoolKit

Alpine Fine Foods has taken delivery of fourteen brand new multi-temperature LWB Renault Master refrigerated vehicles from Coolkit.

CoolKit’s bespoke vehicle configuration will ensure that Alpine meets the EU and UK legislation covering food hygiene regulations and temperature control requirements during the storage and transport of perishable foods.

Based in Hull, Alpine Fine Foods provides a wholesale and delivery service to a multitude of businesses across the UK. Delivering a range of ambient, chilled, frozen, fresh meat, fruit and vegetables and non-food items, the company has an ever-increasing product range consisting of over 3,500 lines and provides an end-to-end service for its customers catering needs.

In extending its fleet of delivery vehicles, Alpine required a payload of over one tonne per vehicle with a capability to carry chilled, frozen and ambient goods on a multi-drop basis, with recordable temperatures.

Coolkit’s consultative approach meant that Alpine fine foods were given the best solution to their needs. EU and UK legislation covers temperature control requirements during the storage and transport of perishable foods.

These regulations were revised in 2006 and regulation EC No 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs requires manufacturers to have suitable temperature controlled handling and storage facilities that can maintain food at appropriate temperatures and enable these temperatures to be monitored controlled and recorded throughout as well as meeting a wide variety of specific temperature requirements for specific food categories.

CoolKit sales executive Mark Beaton said: “Carrying a range of ambient, chilled and frozen products can be a challenge in itself, but add to that multiple deliveries with a high number of door openings over a short period of time and you have a temperature control challenge on your hands. Our design team worked closely with Alpine, alongside our suppliers GAH and Seven Transcan, in order to deliver a solution that precisely met their needs.”

The Renault Master LM35 dci 125 was selected as the vehicle of choice as it offers the best payload in the 3500kg GVW market along with a 4 year 100,000 miles warranty, giving Alpine the peace of mind they need when operating a fleet of vehicles.

The insulation conversion carried out by Coolkit allows chilled, frozen and ambient goods to be carried and effectively controlled during deliveries. A temperature monitoring and recording system was also installed, allowing Alpine to adhere to the current Food Hygiene Rules and Regulations and HACCP whilst showing due diligence to their customers. Alpine Fine Foods managing director Phil Davis said: “The CoolKit conversion of our fleet was chosen because it offered the best payload after conversion with minimal compromise on build quality and temperature control. We were provided with comprehensive data across a range of vehicle options as well as access to existing CoolKit customers that assisted our decision on which make of vehicle would fit our exact requirements.”
