Accountants cheque in with children’s hospice
A fundraising partnership with neighbourly accountants certainly adds up as far as a Chorley children’s hospice is concerned for Leyland based chartered accountants Haines Watts have presented Derian House with a magnificent cheque for £1,264.
A delighted Susie Poppitt, fundraising manager at Derian House, received the cheque at a recent meeting at the group’s Towngate offices. .She said “At the hospice we have to raise £2.9m annually and simply couldn’t survive without our grass roots supporters, such as the wonderful people at Haines Watts. This is a fantastic sum of money and we are so grateful for their help.”
Haines Watts traditionally nominate a local charity to support each year. Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley was the chosen recipient for 2012.Accounts and Audit Senior Victoria Deane, who co-ordinated the fundraising activities throughout 2012 was equally delighted to have broken through the ‘£1,000 barrier.”
She explained: “We raised money on a weekly basis with a ‘dress down’ or ‘non-uniform’ Friday, held a hamper raffle and placed a collection box on reception. Most of the money, though, came from the brave efforts of Mark Croasdale, Mark Tunstall and Richard Carter, three colleagues who bravely agreed to a sponsored leg wax in September.”Derian House celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2013 with a series of events planned to boost much-needed funds.
Susie Poppitt added: “The help from Haines Watts has kicked off our New Year nicely. It’s our ‘China Anniversary’, 20 years, so we hope many people will hold china tea parties or similar – big or small, individuals, groups or companies, for lots of fun and fundraising. Wouldn’t it be great if lots could engage with the idea and we could break through £3m in 2013?”Meanwhile, the charitable accountants at Haines Watts aim to continue with their own fundraising efforts throughout the coming year.
