As the end of the first quarter of 2024 passes, Waddington & Son proudly reflect on their successes so far in 2024. This follows a triumphant year in 2023.

And if you missed what they got up to last year - here’s a quick recap…

In 2023, they had multiple new members join their talented team, as well as several staff members gaining their qualifications. Beth and Grace, both qualified as a solicitor last year, helping to expand their team of professionals. A valued member of staff, Becky Butterfield, also completed a 70-mile ultramarathon known as The Wall, making the entire team extremely proud of her incredible sporting achievement!

At the beginning of May, practice manager, Rachel Dixon, celebrated an amazing 25 years at the firm! The team described Rachel as an ‘absolute credit to the team’ and they couldn’t imagine Waddington & Son without her - congratulations on such a huge milestone, Rachel!

During the Summer, the team headed out to Manchester for some well-deserved fun in the sunshine as a treat from the Directors, where they cracked the Crystal Maze and visited the Flight Club - what an amazing team outing! We can’t wait to see what they have in store for this year.

Towards the end of the year, the firm announced that they would be incorporating John Whittle Robinson Solicitors of Preston. This signified two well-established powerhouses of the legal profession coming together.

So, what have Waddington & Son achieved so far in 2024?

In January, Jessica Rose Strike qualified as a solicitor - congratulations to Jessica! Leanne Scott also qualified as an Accredited Police Station Representative - congratulations to Leanne!

Nicola Mawson, head of private client and Court of Protection solicitor, and Becky Butterfield, senior associate family solicitor, completed the Manchester Hyrox Fitness Race in January - well done Nicola and Becky!

Trish Hassell, one of the directors, arranged a Law Dinner and raised over £1800 for Nightsafe, which is a local charity supporting young homeless people within the borough of Blackburn with Darwen and surrounding areas.

And finally, Colin Warner, another director of the firm, was honoured to speak on behalf of Lancashire Solicitors at the valedictory celebration for Christopher Blackburn. Christopher has been in practice for over 49 years and this was a wonderful testament to Christopher Blackburn following his retirement announcement. The team wishes him well and they hope he enjoys some well-deserved rest. “It has been an honour and pleasure working alongside Christopher” said Waddington & Son.

That’s a wrap for now but it’s safe to say that Waddington & Son have had a fantastic first quarter of 2024 and are looking forward to the year ahead, with their upcoming 140th birthday, Becky running the London Marathon, Rosalind Simpson doing a ‘Cantering for Cancer’, where she will be riding her horse 50km in 30 days in order to raise money for bone cancer, and finally, their upcoming bake sale and quiz to raise money for charity. We can’t wait to stay up to date with the firm and see how they get on throughout 2024!
