From a central location in Burnley, one forward thinking organisation is making waves in the business community.

Coronavirus has shaken up the economy and businesses have had to adapt and streamline to survive. There have been redundancies and the government is predicting unemployment rates to double in the next 12 months.

If you find yourself a position of redundancy, there are several options open to you. You could spend the next few months looking for another job, or you could use your skills and experience to set out on your own.

The Landmark Business Club is organising a covid safe, socially distanced event which brings together some of the best business minds and support groups in the area offering help and advice to those wanting to set up their own business.

The key partners of The Landmark are:

  • East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Themis – Apprenticeships and business solutions at Burnley College
  • Boost – Lancashire’s business growth hub
  • Barclays Eagle Labs – Business support to create, innovate and grow business startups
  • Scott Dawson Advertising – Experts in strategic marketing with 30 years in the local area

The event promises everything you need to set up as a consultant or to start your own company. You can even register your new firm on the day.

The event will start at 11am with an introduction and overview with local businessman Mark Crabtree OBE. Mr Crabtree is the Director of The Landmark, former chair of Burnley Bondholders for most of the past 10 years, and founder of AMS Neve, the Oscar award-winning company specialising in digital and analogue music consoles, outboard and post-production equipment.

He’ll be discussing how he started one of the most successful businesses in Burnley. You’ll find out what help and support he needed to get things off the ground.

Mr Crabtree said: “We are seeing increased demand for our business club facilities from people who don’t want to work from home but want a covid safe collaborative workspace. It only seems right that we need to support people who have been made redundant to help them move forward without fear in starting a new career as well. The bright future of East Lancashire will be built from new start or spin-off businesses.”

At 11.20 there will be an introduction and synopsis from each of the business experts attending, so you’ll know exactly who can help with different aspects of setting up a business.

At 11.45 there will be a socially distanced tour of the building and the opportunity to break off into informal working groups for attendees to put their questions to the panel and get the benefit of their advice.

The Landmark is a thriving business club in the heart of East Lancashire. It’s the ideal space for fledgling, and existing businesses to thrive. It’s also a great place for organisations to set up satellite operations and regional hubs.

To keep the event covid safe we’re limiting the number of available spaces to just 20 and entry is by advance booking only.

The event will take place at The Landmark, Burnley town centre, from 11am to 1pm on Thursday 15th Oct.
