Our 8th Oysters and Pearls returns to Nelson and Colne college on the 11th March and we know that there are 40 wonderful and generous Lancashire ladies ready to help us once again, to inspire the next generation. If you can remember being at college or high school and wondering how on earth you were supposed to choose a career, then please read what I wrote in my teenage diary!
On March 11th 1975 (when I was 16) I wrote "At break I had my careers interview, however, it didn't help much as she didn't even know what an environmental scientist was!" This may explain why I went on to become a Finance Director and felt very un-fulfilled for many years.
If you had a similar experience, please come and help us this March 11th at Nelson and Colne College and hopefully 40 female students won't look back at their face-book page or instagram post in 40 odd years time and find they have written something similar. Our Oysters and Pearls events enable 16 year old girls to meet women who've had all sorts of career journeys and share a day of motivation and discovery. We don't need you to stand at the front and talk about your job or career, simply to be a partner to a young girl, who may never have had the chance to meet someone outside her own peer group. We will lead a day of motivation and discovery and
give you a lovely lunch and hopefully a feeling of doing something really positive for the next generation. Please give us 5 hours on the 11th March, from 9am until 2pm at Nelson and Colne College.
