Twenty-six Lancashire business have signed up to pledge funds for the East Lancashire Hospice Corporate Challenge.
This year has seen 26 companies sign up to raise as much money as possible to provide a range of services for patients with life-limiting illnesses in the region.
Representatives from each of the companies were invited to a launch event and given a first look at a new café within the Blackburn-based hospice, which provides a range of services for patients with life-limiting illnesses in Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley
Jennifer Quinn, corporate fundraiser at the Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted that so many companies have taken up the Challenge. We have great representation from all the areas that the hospice covers.
“The list of companies has everything from large manufacturers to sole traders to retail outlets to high street names. To have so many businesses so engaged with the hospice is wonderful and their support not only ensures our sustainability, it helps us to spread the word throughout our community about the special way of caring we provide.”
At the launch, each of the companies were given their £50 ‘seed money’, thanks to headline sponsor Organic Insurance.
For the last six months, work has been taking place at the Park Lee Road Hospice, transforming the space into a modern, welcoming space for visitors and patients.
The existing conservatory and canteen have been turned into a light and bright communal space, complete with coffee shop and restaurant.
East Lancashire Hospice has a 10-bed inpatient unit offering pain management and end-of-life care to people from Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
