Tourists go wild for Vintage Events

Gardens and zoos saw the most significant growth in visitors of all English tourist attractions last year, according to VisitEngland.

VisitEngland’s Annual Attractions Survey, which gathered information from more than 1,500 English attractions, found that historic houses and castles reported a 7 per cent increase in visitor numbers, and country parks a 4 per cent increase.

Outdoor attractions performed particularly well, with gardens and zoos showing growth of 8 per cent.

In line with VisitEngland’s Great Britain Tourism Survey results, Crafty Vintage, the Lancashire based event production company has seen record visitor numbers so far this year.

Crafty Vintage director Laura Johnson said: “We work with an amazing range of world-class attractions in Lancashire that draw in thousands of visitors every year.

“Whether it is the unique historic building such as Hoghton Tower, the amazing Lancaster Castle or the floating village at Brockholes Nature Reserve, we are seeing record numbers of family groups flocking through the gates in 2017.

Laura added: ‘’We’re also seeing more people travelling greater distances which is all great news for the local economy and the coalition of makers who come and trade their wares at each event”

The next Crafty Vintage event takes place at Brockholes Nature Reserve near Preston on the 23rd and 24th of September with free tickets available here.

VisitEngland latest figures show that for the first four months of the year (2017) Brits took a record 11.4m holiday trips in England.

The tourism economy is worth £106bn annually to England.
