A Rossendale firm has scooped the title of Bathroom of the Year at the national suppliers’ awards, seeing off competition from internationally-known rivals.
When J and J Ormerod’s, northern area sales manager Andrew Filipowicz attended the ceremony at Carden Park Hotel Resort in Chester he figured it would be a good opportunity to network and meet with other buyers.
He was oblivious to the fact that JJO’s Eco Bathroom range had been shortlisted as one of just six finalists.
There are 41 companies that supply bathrooms through Plumbing and Heating Group, PHG, an independent builders’ merchant buying group, which represents some of the best plumbing and heating merchants in the country.
Andrew said: “Details of the six finalists were sent out to the 23 members of PHG and they then chose the winner. Our significant increase in business within the group over the last few years contributed to our winning the award.”
The Bacup-based business was assessed on criteria ranging from delivery, to the quality of products, innovation to service and also how the company reacts to changing markets.
Andrew said: “Every aspect of the business was looked at and that is why this award is not just for the sales team but for every member of JJO from the managing directors down to those who assemble, market and deliver.
“This is a massive award for JJO to have won and we were against stiff competition that is internationally known. Although the company is 150 years old, we have only been manufacturing bathrooms in the UK for nine years; this a great accolade.
“This will give everyone a pat on the back that works for JJO and shows that we are a growing business making good products. I was shocked but delighted to be able to receive the award on behalf of everyone who works for JJO.”
Sales and marketing director John Pollitt said: “Everyone at JJO is absolutely delighted with the award.
“Our relationship with the Plumbing and Heating Group is strong and their business is very important to us.”
Other finalists in the Bathrooms category were: Just Trays, Kudos, Lakes Bathrooms and Roper Rhodes.”
