Data protection ramps up a gear: What employers must do

Buiness owners worried about what the new data protection laws will mean for their company are urged to sign up for a briefing where all will be revealed.

Lawyers for Business Baines Wilson LLP are teaming up with data management experts ICT Reverse to offer top advice on how to prepare for the new General Data Protection Regulation.

Although the new law doesn’t come into effect until 25 May 2018, there’s quite a bit of work that businesses must do to prepare for the change.

Joanne Holborn, employment law partner at Baines Wilson, said: “This new law replaces the Data Protection Act and while it might seem tedious, the changes it demands are unavoidable. Any business that fails to alter its policies and procedures in light of the new law could face huge fines.

“In essence the new law gives back control over personal data to employees and the public and it will have a significant impact on every business that has any form of automated data capture and use.

“We’ve decided to run a special session on this subject, rather than try to incorporate it into our regular Employment Law Update seminars, as there is so much ground to cover. As always, we will make this Business Briefing easy to digest and give everyone a clear plan to gear up for the changes.”
