Roaming Roosters out to save MPs' bad sausage situation

Following a recent article in the Daily Mail, in which one MP expressed his ‘disgust’ at the ‘tasteless’ sausages which were provided, Roaming Roosters decided to surprise MPs in their area by delivering a meat box filled with their quality pork sausages to the House of Commons.

In the pack, the Lancashire butchers also included Old Spot middle bacon, which recently received a highly commended rating at the Great British Food Farm Produce Awards, making it officially the best bacon in the North.

“We were at first amused, then disgusted at the article in the Daily Mail, regarding the poor sausages that MPs are subjected to” said George Cropper, farm shop manager at Roaming Roosters.

“We wanted to provide MPs in the area with good quality sausages to restore their faith in the traditional meat.

“Our sausages contain very high meat content, with a little water and herbs and spices to bind them together; there are no bitter tastes and certainly no need to mask them with ketchup! We’d love to put them in the Parliamentary canteens.”

Roaming Roosters’ native British breed pigs are reared outdoors on its very own farm; the company prides itself on their popular free range, grass fed, gluten-free sausages.

16 Lancashire MPs were surprised with a meat box containing the quality products, and the company also emailed all MPs in the country inviting them to get in touch should they like to taste a proper pork ‘banger’. Andrew Stephenson, Pendle MP and customer at Roaming Roosters said: “I visit Roaming Roosters regularly; the quality and taste of the food is second to none. I was delighted to receive the box filled with sausages and bacon, and I’m sure my fellow MPs in Lancashire will be too. In fact, after a week in the Commons, one of the first things I did when I got back this week was to go for a proper British breakfast in their bistro.”
